Stitch & Bewitch: Knit & Crochet Witch Hat Make-A-Long

Updated: 2 days ago

This Autumn we are brewing our own magic and celebrating all that unites our crafts by knitting and crocheting witch hats together!

When the air turns crisp and the leaves flare into color, I find myself reaching for projects that feel both comforting and affirming; grounding me in my craft, my witchy identity, and the rhythm of the seasons. A new hat on the needles (or hook!) is the perfect way to mark the season, and this year, we get to make them together! The Stitch & Bewitch Make-Along (MAL) invites you to knit the Salem Slouch or crochet the City Witch Hat and celebrate autumn in community. This MAL continues the mission of the Sisters Not Twins Project, a collaboration between Wool & Wyrd and KnotBadBritt that brings knitters and crocheters together through side-by-side designs that honor differences that make our crafts unique while celebrating their shared magic.

🧶 This Wool & Wyrd blog post is part of the On Knitting series, created from my own reflections on craft and community. No AI ghostwriting here — just my voice, my practice, and the joy of making together.

Do I need to be an experienced maker?

Not at all. Both patterns are beginner-friendly with clear instructions. If you can knit or crochet the basics, you can join in. Plus, you’ll have community support in Discord and at live parties.

How much does it cost?

The MAL itself is free to join. The only cost is your chosen pattern:

Where does it happen?

  • Your Inbox → Weekly emails with tips & reminders

  • Discord → Chats for WIPs & cheering each other on

  • Zoom → Craft parties every Sunday in October

  • Instagram → Use the hashtag to share your progress! #StitchandBewitchMAL

Can I do both hats?

Yes! Many of us love being multi-crafty. Grab both patterns if you’d like.

What if I can’t make the Zoom calls?

No worries. The parties are optional — you can still join through email and Discord at your own pace.
